In this talk, Gilles Pelfrene and Eric Cayeux will discuss how open-source models could benefit from being packaged as microservices for seamless interoperability across multiple programming languages.
Calibrating a Rheological Model – Eric Cayeux and Gilles Pelfrene – March 27th, 2023
In this talk, Eric Cayeux and Gilles Pelfrene will discuss methods to calibrate a rheological model using experimental data from a Couette Rheometer and a Pipe Rheometer.
Introduction to Github: Part 2 – Eduardo Gildin – March 20th, 2023
This is the second part of a two-part series in with Dr. Gildin will talk about the ins and outs of git and github, how it is used to enable collaborative coding, and how we use it as part of OSDC.
Introduction to Github: Part 1 – Eduardo Gildin – February 27th, 2023
This is the first part of a two-part series in with Dr. Gildin will talk about the ins and outs of git and github, how it is used to enable collaborative coding, and how we use it as part of OSDC.
WOB Transfer and Buckling Data Analytics – Ysabel Witt-Doerring – May 16th, 2022
In this talk, Ysabel will present surface and downhole data from a particularly difficult horizontal well in Oklahoma that presented challenges with weight transfer and drillability.
Stick slip vibrations in drilling: modeling, estimation, avoidance – Jean Auriol and Florent Di Meglio – April 25th, 2022
In this talk, we present some recent developments for estimating and controlling the torsional motion of a drilling device. We introduce first the stick-slip phenomenology and explain its physical causes. We present a mathematical distributed model that can accurately describe the torsional motion of the drilling device.
Implementing Soft String and Stiff String Models for Torque and Drag Calculations – Darlington Etaje – March 21st, 2022
Soft string and stiff string models are two different mathematical models which are used for torque and drag analysis. They were developed to describe the mechanical behavior of the drill string inside the borehole, and they have their own theoretical background and assumptions.
Coupled Axial-Torsional Modelling – Rajat Dixit – February 28th, 2022
Rajat will present a coupled drillstring model, built within Matlab/Simulink, that can be used to evaluate and optimize drilling and tripping operations. The model will be released through OSDC via the MIT license in early March.
